  • How to use Google Contacts as a unified address book – One book to unite them all. Tie in with Gist.com and you have an even more powerful contacts manager that pulls in from LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook and your email accounts.
  • CCleaner – Window cleaning – A new version of CrapCleaner has been released by Piriform, it's an excellent cleanup tool often retrieving hundreds of megabytes of disk space from my laptop on a once-monthly run of temp file deletion. However, I've discovered that Moo0 DiskCleaner can retrieve even more space, so that's worth a look too.
  • BitDefender safego on Facebook – A Facebook app that checks your Facebook privacy settings, posts, and links to make sure you won't fall foul of malware
  • Free cloud-based AV – Panda Security is (via CNet) offering readers a free one-year licence for its cloud-based anti-virus software. The advantage of cloud-based antivirus is that there is no need to update the software to ensure that you're protected from the latest malware. I think the offer is good for another day or so.
  • Is that Windows process legitimate or a virus? – When you fire up the Windows Task Manager, you usually encounter a bewildering array of processes with often obscure names: dwm.exe, WLTray.exe, csrss.exe and a few that are more obviously related to your browser (Chrome.exe or Firefox.exe) and Apple iTunes (Bonjour, iTunesHelper.exe). There are lots of websites that allow you to search for a particular process to check whether it's a legitimate part of Windows or an insidious risk. Now, a much better way to check the whole list is available in the form of NoVirusThanks. This tool grabs the complete list of processes and then scans each name to ensure it is not malware.
  • At long last, Google has updated FeedBurner – Feedburner, the RSS management tool acquired by Google for $100 million has been in the doldrums for three and a half years, bloggers still use it, but the stats and dahsboard are archaic and, let's face it, crepe. Google has finally upgraded the whole system to a new beta version that is much enlivened and could reinvigorate blogger efforts in this much-neglected part of the net.
